Silicone Rubber Keypads

Silicone Rubber Keypads are produced from chemical resistant, non-toxic silicone compounds available in a wide variety of colours and configurations.

Silicone is normally non-conductive but when used directly onto an etched and tinned copper circuit board, the contact areas in the silicone can be impregnated with carbon to make it conductive. Direct switching of voltages between 0.1Vdc and 100Vdc are possible.

Silicone rubber keypads can be arranged to provide a short travel, soft key feel with a positive tactile feedback, with a variable operating force of between 150g and 550g. These can all be enhanced when used in conjunction with a CPC Dome Array.

Suitable for operating under harsh environmental conditions at temperatures between , 55degC and 105degC, silicone rubber keypads are designed to have a minimum life of 1 million operations.
